Layout I created in the spirit of Maggie Taylor. It came so easily and it is so very me and persons who know me well will agree. Credits: Holliewood Studios Beasts of Burden, Mr Whiskers Steampunk, Hidden Vintage Studios Red Headed Stepchildren, Christina Renee Glass Negatives

What leaves I see!

“Come, little leaves,”
Said the wind one day,
“Come over the meadows
With me, and play;
Put on your dresses
Of red and gold;
Summer is gone,
And the days grow cold.”
Soon as the leaves
Heard the wind’s loud call,
Down they came fluttering,
One and all;
Over the meadows
They danced and flew,
Singing the soft
Little songs they knew.
Dancing and flying
The little leaves went;
Winter had called them
And they were content-
Soon fast asleep
In their earthy beds,
The snow laid a soft mantle Over their heads.

There they go again…
“There they go again…just when it was all going so well”
Lily is no longer startled by her closet skeletons, baggage, dust or whatever you call it, when it starts cavorting about. It’s all clung to her so tightly and has become hard to shake, so she has come to almost expect some bogie to pop up sooner or later. She just watches cautiously until it all passes, again….

This is not a new one, but the spirit, pun intended, that inspired it always gives me a personal chuckle, so I have an affinity for the layout...
and the song is a favorite from an often overlooked creative time for the early Fleetwood Mac post Peter Green...this one was written by Danny Kirwan just before he unwillingly left the band...

Remains of the Summer Days
Haven't made many cards in a couple of months, but a friend had a birthday so I had a great reason to get myself in another creative floral mode. The flowers are from late September, giant Rudbeckia. Again, still trying out some of the newer grunge overlays.
Hey, my love, your come to me like
wine comes to the mouth
Grown tired of water all the time
You quench my heart and you
quench my mind
Celebrate we will
Because life is short but
sweet for certain
We're climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue
The things we cannot change

Promise
Still enjoying the Halloween pre-season and its opportunity for a bit of innocent evil. This one is done with a sardonic bit of humor and a few chuckles to myself. If the subject matter is not clear, thank your stars for having a perfect heart...

Indulgence
'Tis the season for creeping around, and this is what I came up with over the past few days: Indulgence, #3 in the character series... it went through several morphs, still having the same blocks that chain my brain, but still plugging away...
Thanx! to Xquizart for the great art doll...background is my original as is the layout, Mischief Circus for all elements
Sometimes things are connected in unexpected ways, and so it is with this tune and the challenge theme. I'm more inclined to believe the tune is coming from deeper places and so too the colors and textures of the layout, less so the obvious content or verse. So sit back and enjoy the man of the world in his hey day before his beauty was swallowed up...

Remains of the Days...
Not much left in the garden and with the temps going into the 40'sF tonight, it's almost certain that few flora and fauna will grace my place before next spring. But, this zinnia was there yesterday and the painted ladies were still there 2 days ago, well the smaller one anyway, so in the spirit of extending their memory for joy's sake, I created some photos for note cards and tried out some grunge textures recommended by Beth Conklin. I usually make my own grunge overlays, but these offer a lot more variety and nuance...love them so far!

Guilt -#2 Character Series
...the act does not make a person guilty unless the mind is
also guilty... Latin legal term
"We have a strange illusion that mere time cancels sin. But mere time does nothing either to the fact or to the guilt of a sin"
-- C.S. Lewis
My god has shown his sympathy for all the spirits lost
I'll pray for salvation and peace for ages
Standing in the summer breeze inhaling life again
A new day has come
A chance to relive
Forget and forgive
Somebody hides inside my mind
We're bound together
But this is my confession
Soulmate or enemy
A thorn in my religion
Release my heart, unfold my tongue
Save a place for me in heaven we'll meet another day
I found forgiveness and the meaning of it all
My fear is gone
Gone
My god has shown his sympathy for all the spirits lost
Treachery, is the ninth Circle of Hell. "This last circle is dedicated to those people who betrayed their loved ones, friends, bestfriends, countries, cities, guests, and even to their masters. Dante and Virgil come upon a vast frozen lake, as clear as glass—Cocytus. In the ice, souls stand frozen up to their heads, their teeth chattering. (This) First Ring of the Ninth Circle of Hell is called Caina (after Cain, who, as Genesis recounts, slew his brother, Abel), where traitors to their kin receive their punishment."
"Third Ring, Ptolomea, which houses those who betrayed their guests. The souls here lie on their backs in the frozen lake, with only their faces poking out of the ice. Dante feels a cold wind sweeping across the lake, ...although these individuals have not yet died on Earth, their crimes were so great that their souls were obliged to enter Hell before their time; devils occupy their living bodies above ground."
Madeleine Peyroux : "Love and Treachery" I put on my gloves tonight, pull onto the road to San Berdu They remind me of hustlers, confidence men, and you My hands are warm beneath them, and easy on the wheel Without your love and treachery the calm is all I feel I shiver in the mirror, pull my belt across my hips The leather's hard in bending as your fingers to my lips I wrap it tightly in defense as if your arms were near But for your love and treachery there's nothing left to fear
